With an undergraduate degree in Studio Arts, I gravitated to installation & site based work. After graduation I explored landscape design where I discovered an affinity for building materials over plant species. A summer intensive architecture program confirmed this finding, and set me on the path to completion of my M.Arch.
As a professional designer with two Minneapolis-based firms—first ESG Architects, then U+B Architecture & Design—I worked for 7 years on primarily mixed-use, multi-family, hospitality, and single-family projects. Then, a family move to Texas resulted in an unplanned transition to 5 years as a scenic studio foreman at Trinity University’s Stieren Theater. In this role, I translated design drawings into graphic instructions interpretable by the student workers that I trained & oversaw in scenic production. I also did set carpentry, MIG welding, designed & built purpose-fit shop furniture upgrades.
Now in Chicago, I’ve done freelance & volunteer work while settling into a Hyde Park town house with my family. Since weathering the pandemic, I’ve rekindled my drive to return to full-time practice, complete my path to licensure, and—at scales large or small—help create better places for communal life, work, & play.
If your team could use someone with my creative background, or you know another organization in need of support, please reach out and I would be delighted to have a conversation!
