262-keys, 180,500 GSF, with 14,400 SF meeting & prefunction
with an unconventional porte cochere orientation
development suspended 2007
This conference hotel concept was developed for a truly mixed use site: an new event arena to the South (sillhouette seen in the background above), office buildings to the East and West, and several blocks of retail/residential to the North. Setback limitations on the boulevard provided no room for standard vehicular drop-off at the front entrance, so the porte cochere is shifted around to the North end of the building. At the Southwest corner, the hotel's restaurant addresses the plaza in front of the arena.
Pre-function spaces wrap around the pool deck on three sides. Development of the project ended before separation of pool & meeting functions had been fully explored.
Though formally pleasing, the stair transition at the restaurant entrance patio (above) needs evaluation for accessibility.
